How Texas Instruments and Sensory Make Your Home Smarter

The introduction of Amazon’s Echo devices and Alexa brought in an era of home control through voice, but it required an expensive speaker paired with devices capable of understanding control signals from Alexa. Sensory and Texas Instruments (TI) collaborated to make voice control easier and less expensive by placing the recognition directly in the product. Thanks to this collaboration, the voice-controlled smart home just got smarter.

The integration of Sensory’s embedded artificial intelligence (AI) voice technologies with (TI’s) wireless connectivity devices significantly enhances smart home devices in these ways:

  • Voice control capabilities: The collaboration enables advanced voice control features in smart home devices. Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree™ technology, when integrated with TI’s SimpleLink™ 2.4GHz CC2755 wireless microcontrollers, allows for efficient processing of audio wake words and voice commands. This integration enables devices such as smart door locks (featured in this video demo), appliances, and other home automation systems to respond to voice inputs accurately and quickly.
  • Edge AI -processing: By running Sensory’s AI models directly on TI’s hardware, smart home devices can perform AI processing at the edge. This approach reduces latency and enhances privacy by localizing data processing.
  • Customization and flexibility: The collaboration allows device manufacturers to customize AI models for specific use cases while maintaining critical performance characteristics such as response time and accuracy.
  • Enhanced user experience: The integration allows for more intuitive and responsive smart home devices. Users can control various aspects of their home environment through natural language commands, making experiences with smart devices more user-friendly every day.

This collaboration and technology integration represent a significant advancement in voice-controlled devices, enabling less expensive and more sophisticated smart home capabilities. To learn more about TI’s CC2755R10, visit: http://www.ti.com/product/CC2755R10
