Speech Recognition Pioneer Sensory Inc. Awarded Numerous Patents on Touchless Voice Control

Santa Clara, CA – July 30, 2014 …Sensory Inc., the industry leader in speech and vision technologies for consumer products, today announced that it has received hundreds of allowed patent claims on its TrulyHandsfree™ voice control approach. US patents issued include 8645132, 8645143, 8700399, 8768707, and 8781825, along with numerous other allowed claims, patents pending, and international applications.

Up until a few years ago, mobile phones and other consumer products generally required touch to call up a voice recognizer. This was because the accuracy and power consumption requirements prohibited such a usage model, so quite ironically, a button press or series of presses was required to use voice control.

Around 2007, Sensory had some break through ideas on how to create a speech recognizer that could run at an ultra-low power consumption, but be accurate enough that it wouldn’t false fire. In the years following, Sensory perfected its approach and introduced the TrulyHandsfree™ approach in 2009. A number of Sensory’s patents on this approach are now being allowed and issued.

The recently issued and allowed patent claims are generally around systems and methods for handsfree voice control and voice search, but include specific claims around:

• Techniques for reducing false positives in always listening devices
• Combining sensor data (e.g. GPS) to improve accuracy in voice control
• Maintaining accuracy in high noise situations
• Handsfree control on mobile phones and in home electronic devices
• Combining speaker verification with always listening devices to better fulfill individual needs
